Jane Vaux - Spring 2008

My love of the sea and coast has, at last, enabled me to live in South Devon. I have a huge passion for the sea and the variety of light, textures and colours that are created along the coast. The environment of pleasure it portrays, as well as the wildness of nature, energize me in my paintings, and I hope this is passed onto the observer. I have also recently become greatly inspired by Dartmoor and am doing more work in this area.

My paintings are contemporary, and as well as realistic depictions, can be abstract, impressionistic or free style. They depict many recognizable and or evocative scenes. I work mainly in Acrylics, but am always keen to incorporate other mediums especially charcoals.

Having only moved down to Devon in April 2007, my two week exhibition in connection with Devon Artworks last year was a huge success, and my work generally has sold well in many outlets and galleries in the area. Galleries I have a connection with at present, include, The Kaya Gallery in the Barbican, Plymouth, Saltram House National Trust Gallery, Armada Gallery in The Barbican. and the Plymstock Gallery, Panache Gallery in Kingsand, Part of the Country in Mortonhampstead and many other smaller galleries/cafe's and outlets. I have an established set of small, unthreatening art classes running, and am increasing this availability now, including workshops and demonstrations, and luxury two day art breaks at Langdon Court Hotel in Wembury. I have undertaken a number of commissions in various subjects and have been rewarded with my clients being thrilled with the results.

I am pleased to say that I have been asked to exhibit at Delamore Arts exhibition this May, and am continuing to grow in my work, as well as becoming more recognised.
